Air Cadet Sponsorship
Congratulations.
So you have completed your Gliding Scholarship through Air Cadets. What are your plans now? Have you caught the gliding bug? Do want to keep flying?
Of course you want to keep flying but who is going to pay? With your GS completed we know how difficult it can be to find the spare cash to keep airborne. Not to worry help is at hand...
£200 Flying Credit
To give you the opportunity to increase your flying skills and further your gliding, the Guild of Air Pilots and Navigators (GAPAN) and The Air League Educational Trust (ALET) have made 80 scholarships available for Cadets that are post GS. This amazing package is designed to allow you maximum benefit and to keep you flying.
By working with the British Gliding Association (BGA) we have developed a scheme that has lead to the creation of Junior Gliding Centres (JGCs) who are set up to help young people fly gliders.
At present there are JGCs at
Bannerdown Gliding Club, near Trowbridge
Bowland Forest Gliding Club, near Preston
Cambridge Gliding Centre
Chilterns Gliding Club, near Aylesbury
York Gliding Centre
In the near future the Junior Development Team will be introducing a number of new clubs to this scheme!!!
JGCs are open to all people we class as a junior glider pilot (under 26). What is special is that these clubs have made special arrangements to allow you the maximum amount of flying and fun for the least outlay. They have a special conversion course designed to get you from the standard you achieved as a solo Cadet to a glider pilot with a licence.
So what’s the deal? Firstly, you have to join JGC.
Once you have joined and flown £50 worth of flying on your account you will be eligible to apply for a top up credit of £200 by filling in the application form. Applications are being accepted now so follow this link for the application form.
